PONCA CITY, Okla. -

Across the U.S., millions of hardworking men and women are employed in the bar and restaurant industry. While the National Restaurant Association reports that the industry boasts annual sales of more than $709 billion dollars, many restaurant workers barely earn minimum wage and, to make ends meet, must rely heavily upon customer tips. In addition to the financial struggles that tend to accompany employment within the restaurant industry, workers often lack any type of medical or dental insurance.

For one Wichita waiter named Brian Maixner, a recent tip from a customer provided a very good reason to smile. Maixner, a single father, struggled with dental problems since childhood. Unable to afford dental work, Maixner's wide and infectious smile was marred by chipped and decaying teeth.

The waiter, however, never allowed his dental problems to dim his bright smile, a quality that was both noticed and admired by attorney Fred Boettcher, upon whom Maixner waited on one recent morning. Having suffered his own share of dental problems during childhood, Boettcher offered to pay to repair his waiter's teeth.

Discussing the generous act, the workers' compensation and personal injury attorney noted that he "took one look at this young man and knew he was something special." Upon meeting Maixner it's clear that he is indeed special. So too is Fred Boettcher who advises to be "kind to everybody and be as generous as you possibly can be."

Helping people is nothing new to Boettcher, who has dedicated his life to assisting people who have suffered injuries regain control over their lives. Boettcher's penchant towards altruism is evident in his interactions with clients for whom he fights passionately for every day, helping them to recover much-needed compensation.

Today, Maixner's smile is even bigger and more beautiful than before. He is currently fitted with dentures and will soon undergo a procedure by Boettcher's dentist during which he'll receive permanent implants.
