Act safely and responsibly this Super Bowl Sunday

This Sunday is a big day for all football fans out there, as it is Super Bowl Sunday. Throughout Oklahoma and across the country, people will be throwing Super Bowl parties on game day.

If one is attending a Super Bowl party, a lot of their focus likely is on being a good guest and having a good time. This is fine, but one thing it is incredibly important to not forget to also put a considerable amount of focus on is being safe and responsible when it comes to how one will get home after the party is over.

It is not at all uncommon for a person to have some alcoholic drinks at a Super Bowl party. If a person has been drinking at a party, they should not drive home, as they could run the risk of drunk driving.

Drunk driving is a massive traffic safety problem at any time of the year. It leads to numerous traffic accidents, injuries and deaths in America year-round.

Sadly, Super Bowl Sunday historically has proven to be a day where drunk driving is a particularly major traffic safety concern. For example, according to the website of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, drunk-driver-involved accidents were responsible for around half of the motor vehicle deaths that occurred on 2013's Super Bowl Sunday.

MADD is putting a big emphasis on one of the major steps Super Bowl party-goers who are planning on drinking can take to avoid committing drunk driving: lining up a sober designated driver to help them get home safe and sound. This can go a long way in a person being able to have a fun and safe party experience.

Enjoy the big game this weekend and be safe!
